Hi, I’m Johan.
Welcome to Blue Hour. If you’re here, you probably share my love for exploration, storytelling, and the art of capturing the world just as it is – raw, wild, and honest. I’m a photographer, a lifelong traveler, and someone who believes deeply in the power of images to connect us to places, people, and stories.
My journey began in Belgium, and like most good adventures, it started with a leap of faith. In 2013, I left behind my career in public relations and set off for Australia and New Zealand, camera in hand and a world of possibility ahead. What was supposed to be a brief escape turned into a two-year transformative journey, and I've never looked back.
Through Blue Hour, which originally started as a podcast back in 2021, I’m opening up a new chapter. This isn’t just about showcasing photos; it’s about sharing the why behind each frame, the people I meet, the landscapes that stop me in my tracks, and the stories I carry with me. I’ll be writing about photography, travel, and the experiences that continue to shape my work – from breathtaking South American vistas to quiet moments in a bustling city café.
If you're settling in with a coffee or just taking a break, it might be the perfect moment to dive into a podcast. There's something about listening to stories that brings you right into the journey. In the episode below, I share a bit more about my path, inspirations, and what keeps me exploring. You can find even more interviews and podcasts I’ve joined on my press page.
What You’ll Find Here
While most of Blue Hour is open to everyone, paid subscribers are the ones who make this journey sustainable. Thanks to those who choose to support, I can keep creating and sharing in a way that feels authentic and personal. Someday, I might add more perks just for paying members – exclusive stories, subscriber-only photo insights – but for now, know that every bit of support helps keep this project going.
And if you join as a founding member, expect a free signed, limited-edition print per year, as my way of saying thank you for your support. You can read more about it here.
If any of this speaks to you, I’d love for you to join. Here’s to curiosity, creativity, and the beautiful unpredictability of life. Thanks for being here – let’s explore.
